Floating village in Tonle Sap Lake

We stopped for lunch after the last temple and Rot suggested I try one of the local specialties; Amok. Amok is made out of vegetables and either fish or meat, all cooked inside a coconut, and served together with rice. It was delicious!^^

Rot had asked us if after the temples we wished to visit the floating village in the Tonle Sap Lake, we thought this sounded like an excellent idea, since we had chosen not to go visit the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, so after lunch we headed out towards the biggest lake in South East Asia.

We got a private boat to take us around the village, with our very own 12 year old driver!

When you think floating village, at least I thought "well there are probably a lot of boats and people mostly living on the water". Once there, you realize they actually have everything floating on the lake; Basket ball field, school, hospital, super markets... even a crocodile farm!

And yes, everyone is living on rafts or boats, since every year the houses on the shore need to be rebuilt, they all get washed away during the rain season when the lake goes from 1m deep to 14m deep!!

It was really something not to miss!
