Breakfast by the lake

We didn't quite know what to expect from the country side, to be honest we weren't even really sure if we were going to the country side, before ending up there. What we had no idea about was that we were to stay there for 3 days, Vietnamese funerals take some time!

On the first morning, we had our first real authentic Vietnamese breakfast; Bom Ba served by the local hot spot (the lake).

Bom Ba (Ba means Beef, and Bom I have no idea^^) is a glass noodle soup, beef, soy germs and other green stuff swimming around. For breakfast, I'd say it's spicy, but totally okay. To spice up the Bom Ba some more, it's accompanied by chili peppers and garlic, marinated in the well known fish sauce Nouc Mam. Anyone up for a morning kiss??

To finish off; a refreshing coconut juice and some delicious Vietnamese ice coffee!

The day after, Steve and I were left on our own to discover the small town. To be sure not to wander off on an empty stomach, Steve made breakfast plans with the waiter the night before, of course translated by our friends since Vietnamese is the only language to trust.

So once again Bom Ba for breakfast, but this time the coconut juice and the coffee brought some unexpected company...

We figured out that Steve must be one of very few white persons that have crossed the village, and the inhabitants were quick to join our breakfast and steal a peek of the "very small man for being European"-Steve.

To summon up; we spent more time having breakfast than exploring the village! ^^
