Perfume Pagoda

Time to start our exploring, our first excursion went to the Perfume Pagoda, about two hours drive from Hanoi.
We had decided to go off with a smaller group, about 10-15 persons.
Pick up at 8 am, and we were more than on time!
The minibus dropped us off down the river that leads up into the Huong Tich mountains. To get up to the mountains one needs to go by boat, and after some time we all managed to get into the boats that would take us up the river.
You see, the boats are rowed by only women, and there's often long discussions about who's turn it is to take the tourists up the river, since there are too many women and not enough boats.

Once in the boat, slowly going up the river, the only thing one could hear was the paddles going into the water, and nature. It was an unbelievable hour that we spent on the river, it felt like meditating.

Along the way we saw the people going about their daily life on the river.

The Perfume Pagoda is a collection of several temples, and we visited the Huong Tich Cave and the Kitchen Pagoda. The Huong Tich Cave was rather dark, and right before entering a real monsoon rain surprised us, so there are no photos from there, we could hardly see where we stepped.
The Kitchen Pagoda, that we visited after lunch had been damaged during the war and many parts were reconstructed since. But it was a beautiful place, and we managed to discover a few well hidden parts.
